News/Info

Ladies,
Please see the message below about the National Age Group Championship in Shreveport, LA on Sept 18.  I went last year as a competitor and as a representative of the Women's Commission.  The people of Shreveport couldn't be nicer, the city welcomed us and the race was well-planned.
Also, mark your calendars for the National Women's Breakfast on Friday morning, September 17.  Jean McGuire is the vice chair of special events and is organizing the breakfast.  Please let us know if you would like to help Jean with the breakfast or have any suggestions or constructive criticism.  I thought Jean did an absolutely outstanding job with the breakfast last year, and this year promises to be just as fabulous!  More details to come.

Subject: National Age Group Championship

Dear Committee Chair,

Never before will more people have the opportunity to see the world's and nation's best triathletes compete for a spot on the prestigious podium.  In August, all of America will be cheering on the USA Olympic team as they compete at the 2004 Summer Games in Athens.  A few short weeks later, the best age groupers in the nation will gather in Shreveport, LA for the 2004 TriGenix National Age Group Championship (NAGC) on September 18th.  The TriGenix NAGC will attract top athletes from across the country in one race to determine one national champion for each of the five-year age groups.

This year's NAGC promises to be more exciting than ever before, featuring a new course that will be both challenging for the athletes and thrilling for spectators.  The Championship will also feature:

    *    Qualifying slots for the top six per age group for the 2005 World Championship in Honolulu, Hawaii
    *    Custom awards to the top 10 finishers of each age group
    *    All-American status for the top ten per age group
    *    Pre-race ceremony for defending champions and medalists from World Championships in New Zealand and Madeira Island
    *    USA Triathlon membership meeting and other Committee and Regional Federation activities
    *    Sponsor's expo including, Polar, Ironman Wetsuits, Saucony, Amino Vital, Gu Energy Gel, and many more will be doing sampling and free giveaways
    *    "Taste of the South," a Cajun-inspired hot buffet after the race
    *    Friday night Pasta Party with great food to "carb up" for Saturday's race
    *    A special post event evening awards ceremony with video montage and post party with live music hosted by TriGenix
    *    USA Triathlon merchandise including t-shirts, key chains, socks, and more

As a committee chair, you are one of the more influential voices in the triathlon community. Help spread the excitement of the 2004 TriGenix National Age Group Championship to all triathlon enthusiasts on your committee and to all you see in your community and at events. For more information on qualifying for the race, as well as an application, please visit our website at www.usatriathlon.org <http://www.usatriathlon.org>.
