Tough Cookies Don't Crumble - on April 4th

News/Info

The race is next weekend April 4th. We have 130 women registered and still expect more to registered race week. We organized a pre-race pasta party that will feature a panel of amazing women including Shawn Colvin (multiple-grammy award winner, triathlete and mother), Whitney Hedgepeth (two time Olympian - three time medalist for swimming, coach and mother), Jen McRae (former professional cyclist, coach and mother), and Jackie Mistler (Motivational speaker, olympic hopeful who was ran over by a drunk driver and was told she'd never be able to walk, and has beat the odds - she's now a triathlete, spin instructor, coach, and mother). They will be talking about how they've managed to incorporate their passion for sports into their everyday lives (and family lives) and the impact it's had on their lives.

We are also going to have a great post race party with moonwalks, an easter egg hunt, barbecue (provided by the fire and police dept.), we'll be giving away 50 kids' cycling helmets among other great prizes, there will be a picture op. with the easter bunny, etc. We are also giving very unique finisher medals made of cut stone  with leather instead of ribbon, they are beautiful!

The point is to make this event as fun as possible to get these women - mostly first timers - to have a great experience and hopefully get them hooked in multi-sport.

By the way, as of now we've raised about $2,000 for the Austin Children's Shelter...we'll see what the final figure is...
