GROWTH OF WOMEN IN MULTISPORT
As we enter the final quarter of 2001, the Women's Commission is proud to announce some amazingly positive statistics. Currently, USAT has a membership of approximately 30,101. Of that number, 29% are women! (8,605) In addition, statistics show that women's participation in multisport competitions is up to 25% of the field.

You've Come A Long Way Baby!

THE ANNUAL USAT WOMEN'S COMMISION BREAKFAST
This year's annual USAT Women's Commission (W/C) Breakfast took place at the USAT Age Groups Nationals in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The main event this year was Erin Flannery's presence and the showing of her highly acclaimed documentary, Judy's Time, the story of the life of Judy Flannery, her mother and world class athlete whose impact on the nation's athletes was unequaled.

For the first time, the USAT W/C opened the traditional "master's " breakfast to women of all ages. What a stunning success! Of the 45 women who attended our traditional festivities, approximately 20% were women from the "younger" age groups.

Guest speakers:
Mike Highfield, President of USAT, who is winding up his last term, commented on the growth of the number of women in multisport during his term(s) at USAT. Also, Mike emphasized the importance of having a female presence in decision-making positions within USAT and also the sport in general. Ballots for the upcoming USAT Board of Directors election were made available to all who attended the breakfast.
Celeste Callahan, of CWW, shared a videotape of her training group of novice women during their first triathlon. What a wonderful visual impression! Everyone there laughed heartily and reminisced what it was like when they first started.
Steve Locke, the executive Director of USAT, presented the Spirit of Judy Flannery award to Celeste Callahan for her untiring efforts and dedication to the novice female athletes in their quest for their first triathlon finish.
Erin Flannery joined us to introduce her film, Judy's Time, which was aired at the North Idaho College later that afternoon to a sell out crowd. Erin has won numerous awards from best humanitarian documentary to accolades at the Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals for her work. If you haven't seen this film, I highly suggest you do. You will not forget it.
Liz Dobbins, Co-Chair of the USAT Women's Commission, was the matron of ceremonies. She closed the breakfast with a glowing report on the accomplishments and directives of the USAT WC for 2001 and the outlook for 2002 and beyond.
