Women in Leadership Roles: ITU Update #6

News/Info

Congratulations to Leisbeth Stoltz who was elected on the weekend as Secretary of the South African Triathlon Federation.  As many of you know Liesbeth, a member of the ITU Women's Committee, has worked extremely hard in the development of the sport in South Africa and especially in providing and encouraging opportunities for women, girls, juniors and those from a disadvantaged background to participate in our sport.  So it is good to see that Liesbeth will also have a key position in the national triathlon federation.

It is also great to see that Deborah Hoare has been elected into the position of Vice-President of the South African Triathlon Federation.  Deborah brings to South Africa a wealth of experience and expertise in the administration of the sport as well as in the area of athlete development, sport science and talent identification.  Deborah, a former Vice-President of Triathlon Australia was also a long-term president of the Triathlon ACT, one of the most progressive Australian state & triathlon associations.  A very highly regarded sport scientist, Deborah initiated and lead the Australian Institute of Sport's Talent Search program which has been extremely successful in Australia and is being adopted at the international level.

Congratulations to all the elected officers for the South African Triathlon Federation and a special 'well done' to Liesbeth & Deborah.
